hi beautiful!
I was on a walk this evening and had a revelation and wanted to share it with you, so here it is 💕
Sometimes when we are pioneering (going out, gaining new land, chartering new territory, going places others have not gone before) we can grow weary in our well doing. And if we aren’t careful we can be closer to being devoured by our enemy than we may think.
This weekend was an incredibly tough one for my family and I. Tougher than I’ve had in a very long time…
As I took some time to myself today I went off the paved path down into a grassy area where God has spoken to me before. And He met me there again. 🙌🏻
As I was pretty far from the pavement I looked around, it was all grass and I had the thought that sometimes that is how it is in the spiritual path we walk as spiritual pioneers.
We get to a certain spot sometimes and it seems like nothing is working. For me it’s a familiar place - one where things have been working but then there is something that comes against me and I begin to doubt or fear and then I begin to shift and think maybe I just need to pivot or start over.
It’s a point where we don’t really know where we are headed (because we’ve never been there and it’s all new territory). It seems like the steps we are taking aren’t even making an impact. (Our footprints aren’t even leaving a mark behind us!) But if we look a little further beyond where we are in that moment we can see how far we have come.
And that, my sweet friend, is a beautiful thing!
To be reminded that even when we are questioning the direction we are on like:
• is this right, Lord? • what is the next step? • should I be turning back, turning left or right, or continuing to forge straight ahead??
and I was reminded that even in those moments where God isn’t answering us in the same ways He has before, as quickly as He has before, or as clearly as He has before we can still trust He is with us because we wouldn’t have breath in our lungs, a beating heart, or a working body and mind without His say-so.
It’s easy to forget He is sovereign, He is above all, and that He is right by our side when things get out of hand.
But we can cling close to Him as we meditate on His word and stay anchored in Christ no matter what comes.
Psalm 105:17-19 says, “He sent a man before them— Joseph—who was sold as a slave. They hurt his feet with fetters, he was laid in irons. Until the time that his word came to pass, The word of the Lord tested him.”
And just like with Joseph, the Lord tests us until the time of His promise comes to pass in our lives. He tests our character to show us how we will respond, to show us what areas we still need to work on, and where there are still anxieties in our hearts where we are not fully trusting in Him.
So take heart today. If you’re in a season of transition, of pioneering, of going off the beaten path with God - you aren’t alone. He is right there with you and He will strengthen your heart as you lean on and trust in Him. 💕
 In Christ’s love,
~Sarah Murphy
