💖 Looking for the next best thing?!? 💎

Hi beautiful!

How has your week been?

As I was spending some focused time yesterday and God gave me this not-so-new revelation that I felt lead to share it with you, so here it goes!

Once per month I sit down with myself and the Lord and I do what I call a “Monthly Overview”. I look at the passed month at different things (what went well, what didn’t go well, how God showed up in extraordinary ways, what we accomplished together, etc.) and I also look at the month ahead to try to get ahead of things.

Towards the end, one of the questions I ask is “what is my main focus for the upcoming month?”

As I began to answer that question I felt more and more uneasy… like I was missing something. So I asked God “what am I missing?” And I heard “just sitting”. What followed was the reminder of what my mentor said recently...

Before we are anything else (moms, wives, workers, warriors for God's Kingdom, etc.) we are God’s daughters and He is our Father.

And sometimes that means not doing anything more than just sitting in His presence and enjoying time with Him as He loves on us and we love on Him.

I know, I know - this may be a simple and super basic principle for some, but I needed that reminder yesterday (and today and when my mentor first said it)! Why? Because in today’s world it is so easy to get caught up in all the doing that we forget what it’s truly all about - just being with Christ and creating an intimate relationship with Him. And when we focus on that first everything else will fall into place. (Matthew 6:33)

So what might that look like?

Just walking with God each day.

Releasing the pressure to perform.

Just being loved for being you…

So what the Lord was reminding me of as I was trying to think of my focus for the next month was this: sometimes it isn’t about the new. Sometimes it is about continuing on the same path we are already on.

Instead of creating new goals, for the next month (and maybe beyond) I’m going to continue in the ones I had already set but didn’t quite get finished with yet.

Instead of shifting my focus to something else, I’m going to dig deeper in what God has already called me to and continue allowing God to refine my focus on what is already in front of me.

And as I continue seeking Him, trusting Him, and just being with Him it’s so interesting how God is taking away my desire for the new, exciting, and shiny things and changing the desires of my heart to be content in Him and content in continuing to persevere in the areas He has already shown me to move in.

So if you’re like me - easily distracted by the next idea or new thing you can start while also being frustrated that you aren’t further along and don’t get things completed 😂 - then be encouraged, sweet friend.

There is hope for you to finally get over that endless cycle of re-starting! There is hope for you to begin seeing a reward on the work you've been putting in.

Don't give up. Keep pushing to follow Christ's lead!

As you continue to submit yourself to God and surrender to His plan for you, you will see over time how He is transforming you into His likeness. 🙌

In Christ’s love,

~Sarah Murphy
